I think it’s a pretty handsome little car. Wondering what the replacement will be/look like.
Like, damn, that’s pretty good looking. In before “BUT THE BEAK”, the beak looks fine and you’d complain about the grille anyway.

The replacement will be nothing, because the ILX was mostly dumb before the Civic was refreshed, and especially dumb after the Civic was refreshed and the Touring trim was added.

I mean, the Civic has been sold as the Acura 1.6 EL, 1.7 EL, and the CSX in Canada long before the US got the ILX, so clearly it’s not dumb in the eyes of Acura.

Just because Acura doesn’t think it’s dumb doesn’t mean it isn’t dumb.
No the EL/CSX/ILX aren’t that different from a base model Integra sedan, but the Integra was a noticeable step up from the Civic at the time it was sold, especially in GSR form.
The ILX is less dumb than the EL and CSX because at least the ILX had the same motor as the Civic Si but it’s basically just a more luxurious trim of Civic Si.
Acura’s sedan lineup has been dumb for a long time.

There was one at the car show I was at yesterday. It looks ok. The seats were pretty much identical to my TSX’s seats, which I thought was odd. Still has a real parking brake, which is a plus. I’d like to find a pre-facelift manual version, because the facelifted one has that stupid push-button shifter as the only option.

I’ve noticed we have similar tastes in cars, apparently.

Probably rare to find a manual ILX. Good thing we got the CSX here.

Yeah, they’re extremely rare. Every now and then a CSX will end up on this side of the border. I’ve seen one for sale on a regional Craigslist.

Acura thought the beak was a good idea, and ran with it for years, as sales tumbled.

Not sure what gets to me more - the beak, the reverse C-pillar, or the goofy Honda aesthetic wheels. Probably a nice reliable car though.

Not that rare, really. Quick search 14 popped up... around the same number of 3-series manual sedans of the same vintage.

You’re also back in the GTA. Saskatchewan Autotrader is a depressing place.

Now that the Civic hatchback is back, I do wish there was also kind of Acura hatch. And I don’t mean the RDX

Interesting thing though, when I searched for mine, a large number of them actually came from Quebec, including mine.

It’s not though. Because you’ve never been able to get the Si with luxury features. The ILX essentially combines the Si driving with the Touring bells and whistles. It essentially sits where the GTI Autobahn does.

The ILX with the Type R drivetrain would be substantially better than the current Type R.

Head up, refresh is next year (no more beak) but same chassis and engines. No 1.5 T, heard it looks a lot better but just like the rest of the ILXs slow. 200 hp is nothing now, it needs to be at least 260 - 280hp and AWD.
The total refresh will be 2 years later. Which is a long time and I don’t get how they even sell now, it’s a glorified 2013 Civic.

The ILX is nice until you remember the Mazda6 exists. They sure are sharp in black, though. I doubt Acura will replace the ILX directly, however. My money is on an HRV-based crossover, but hopefully Honda/Acura will be smart enough to use an independent rear suspension under it.

I like it except the wheels. I am an owner of a GTI with the “silver on the outside, black on the inside” wheels, and frankly, I’m sick of seeing them. They’re everywhere and they need to stop. All silver, or all black, or all some color, any color.
Let’s start a “stop the 2-tone wheels” campaign. I will donate one of my wife’s asshole cats to the fund. He’s got to be worth at least 25 cents (on a good day).

Which is sad because their SH-AWD is actually really good. The Real-Time is meh and just for commuter cars.
